Wither Bernie Ward.

May 12, 2008

The Lion of the Left pled guily last week. It was a bit of a shock as I hadn’t been following the case for a while. I was listening to Ronn and people were calling in Pro and Con. Thankfully KGO had finally let the elephant in the room be recognized.

Having been a fan of Bernie’s for years, I trusted him. I mean I listen to God Talk, his show, his Wednesday fights….a long long time. His career on KGO, I knew it. I’d met him several times. I believed his explanation initially that it was for a book. Then on Ronn’s show I heard there were chat transcipts. I read those and I can not come to any other conclusion but he is a sick fuck. I mean your own goddamn kids, seriously? Research my ass.

I’m angry at you Bernie, I emailed you in support, I called KGO to get you back on.

Oh and the shitbirds (you know who you are) that use Bernie to broadbrush liberals: “He’s a pedophile so ALL liberals are pedophiles” you’re as disgusting as the “Bernie-can-do-no-wrong” supporters. To turn this into (and I’ve seen a lot of you) into a political game, you’re no better than Bernie.

It’s Chris Bowers day at Digging Glass!!

March 26, 2008

Chris also had two other posts that I wanted to highlight today:
Delegate Math Myth and Fact: in it Chris lays out just how behind Hillary is.

Next in his endorsement of Obama Chris lays out:

First, many people have said that there are few policy differences between Obama and Clinton, but the truth is that their telecom policies could hardly be further apart from each other. Obama proposes exactly the sort of transformative, open telecommunications policy that we need to transform the media landscape in America, while Hillary Clinton’s telecom proposals are nothing more than heinous corporate welfare. Without a transformed telecommunications landscape, we are going to have an extremely difficult time building a progressive America or passing any of our other legislation.

Telecommunication policy is going to be the key to our growth as a nation. Our current arcane policies are going to send us to a certain “second rate country” grave if we don’t wake up. Hell if we aren’t producing actual product in this nation before we better deliver  something and information is a commodity any more.

Bill Richardson: Stop fence stilling and put this thing to bed.

March 21, 2008

NY Times:

PORTLAND, Ore. — Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico delivered a forceful endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for president on Friday, urging Democrats to unite behind his candidacy to move the nation beyond its racial and partisan divide.

Hillary has no intention of getting out of this race until the convention. Her camp will continue to spin and stay in until such time as the party is torn apart, demoralized and Obama is sufficiently damaged. That doesn’t seem to me to be a very effective strategy to win the general, in fact that seems like a wet dream for the McCain camp. Even the Hillary camp in their private moments admits they have almost no chance of winning:

One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives.

[…]

But even some of Clinton’s own advisers now concede that she cannot win unless Obama is hit by a political meteor. Something that merely undermines him won’t be enough. It would have to be some development that essentially disqualifies him.

The people who can put this thing away are the super delegates. In fact that’s their job: Do what’s best for the party. I don’t know what the heavy hitters like Al Gore and John Edwards think they are gaining by sitting on their collective asses and watching the world go by, whatever it is, it’s not helping put a Democrat in the White House.
